Georgian National University SEU — MD Fees & Admission 2026
Georgian National University SEU is a private university in Tbilisi, Georgia, whose one-cycle MEDICINE programme awards a Medical Doctor (MD) — Georgia's equivalent of an MBBS — over 6 years, 12 semesters and 360 ECTS, taught in English. SEU's own admission guidelines put the annual fee for the MD programme at US$5,900, with no separate application fee stated; accommodation is not part of that figure and is not covered in the guidelines at all. For Indian applicants the practical requirements are an English proficiency document (the admission guidelines ask for minimum B1, the MD programme specification for B2 where you enter without Georgia's national exams), an admission interview, and NEET-UG, which NMC rules require before you can register to practise in India.
SEU delivers its medical and dental programmes through the Faculty of Medicine, alongside faculties of Business and Technology and of Law, and admits international students through its admissions office at admissions@seu.edu.ge.
The university's MD programme specification names Maia Advadze as programme director and sets out Clinical and Professional Skills teaching across all twelve semesters, held in simulation labs and clinics and assessed by OSCE.

Why choose Georgian National University SEU?
What Georgian National University SEU publishes about its MD programme:
- A Published Annual Fee: SEU's own admission guidelines state the annual fee for the Medical Doctor (MD) programme as $5,900, alongside $4,900 for dental medicine and $3,500 for nursing — so you can compare within one official document.
- Recognition — Verify In Writing: Course structure, recognition and admission requirements are set by the university and by the regulator in its own country, and should be confirmed in writing for your intake year before you apply.
- 360 ECTS, English Throughout: The programme specification gives the qualification as Medical Doctor, the language of instruction as English, the duration as 6 years and the volume as 360 ECTS across 12 semesters.
- Clinical Skills In Every Semester: Clinical and Professional Skills courses run across all 12 semesters, are held in simulation labs and clinics, and end with an OSCE examination.
- A Documented Admission Sequence: SEU publishes each step with timings — document submission, interview, translation and notarisation, the EQE recognition document, and a ministry order that usually takes 4–5 weeks.
- No Separate Application Fee Stated: SEU's admission guidelines set out no application fee for one-cycle programmes; you pay the tuition fee after the ministry decree. Confirm this in writing, and ask what the optional paperwork service costs if you have no representative in Georgia.
MBBS course overview
SEU's medical programme is the one-cycle educational programme MEDICINE, awarding a Medical Doctor (MD) — the Georgian equivalent of an MBBS.

Georgian National University SEU fee structure
SEU publishes its programme fees in one official document, the university's Admission Guidelines (June 2025 update — the newest edition published). It lists the Medical Doctor (MD) programme as 6 years, 12 semesters, with an annual fee of $5,900.
Tuition is paid after the Ministry of Education issues its decree on your enrolment, not at application stage. SEU's guidelines state no application fee for one-cycle programmes.
Source: Georgian National University SEU's own "Admission Guidelines" document (cc.seu.edu.ge, ADMISSION GUIDELINES 2025, June 2025 update — the most recent edition SEU publishes), which lists "Medical Doctor (MD) … 6 years, 12 Semesters. The annual fee is $5,900". Because that document is dated to the 2025 admission cycle rather than to 2026–2027, confirm the rate for your intake in writing with admissions@seu.edu.ge before you pay. Excluded from the figure: accommodation and meals — SEU's admission guidelines do not cover university housing at all — plus travel, document translation and notarisation, the EQE recognition step, and health insurance, which Georgian law requires international students to hold and which SEU asks you to arrange through an insurer (it names PSP as a partner company). If you have no representative in Georgia, SEU can handle the paperwork under a service agreement that carries its own service fees, so ask for that agreement in writing. Fees are set in US dollars and SEU publishes no rupee figure; any INR amount is approximate and moves with the exchange rate on the day each instalment is paid.

Eligibility criteria
What SEU's admission guidelines and MD programme specification require of international applicants:
- School Qualification: A school certificate — SEU lists Higher Secondary, Intermediate, Senior or GCE 3 A-Level — from foreign citizens or stateless persons who received general secondary or equivalent education in a foreign country
- English Language: An English level proficiency certificate or document, minimum B1, per SEU's admission guidelines; the MD programme specification requires entrants who come without Georgia's Unified Entry Examinations to confirm English at B2. If you hold no language document, SEU requires you to sit the university's English proficiency test after a successful interview
- Admission Interview: SEU schedules an interview for every international applicant after accepting the documents; the MD programme specification confirms the interview for applicants entering without the Unified Entry Examinations
- NEET Exam: NEET-UG is not on SEU's own checklist, but it is an Indian requirement: under NMC rules an Indian student must have qualified in NEET-UG to register and practise in India after a foreign medical degree
- Age: SEU does not publish a minimum age. Under Indian NEET rules you must be 17 by 31 December of the admission year
- Health Insurance: Georgian legislation requires international students to submit a health insurance document; SEU names PSP as a partner insurer and asks you to send the policy to iss@seu.edu.ge
Admission process 2026
SEU publishes its first-semester admission sequence for one-cycle programmes step by step, with the timings it expects. Documents go to admissions@seu.edu.ge.
- Send scanned PDFs to admissions@seu.edu.ge: a copy of your passport, your school certificate (Higher Secondary, Intermediate, Senior or GCE 3 A-Level), SEU's completed application form, and an English proficiency document at minimum B1.
- SEU accepts the documents and schedules an interview. If you do not hold a language proficiency document, you sit SEU's English proficiency test after a successful interview.
- Translate your passport and school certificate into Georgian and have them notarised, in two hard copies; one copy is submitted physically to the admissions office and kept by the university.
- SEU issues an acceptance letter once it has the translated and notarised documents.
- Submit the acceptance letter and the translated passport and school certificate to EQE, Georgia's National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (eqe.ge), and give SEU the Educational Recognition Document you receive back. If you have no representative in Georgia, SEU can do this under a service agreement that carries service fees.
- SEU receives the ministry order — usually 4–5 weeks after the educational recognition document — and the Students Affairs Department then requests payment.
- Pay the tuition fee and send the receipt to iss@seu.edu.ge; enrolment follows in roughly 2–3 business days, after which you contact the Students Affairs Department to activate your student portal.
- Arrange your health insurance and, if you need a visa, apply through the Georgian embassy or consular office (geoconsul.gov.ge). Georgian universities' admissions pages refer to the D3 immigration visa for study; check your own position, because some nationalities may enter without a visa.
Documents required
The documents SEU's admission guidelines list for first-semester applicants to one-cycle programmes:
- Copy of the passport
- School certificate — Higher Secondary, Intermediate, Senior or GCE 3 A-Level
- SEU's completed application form (downloaded from the admission guidelines page)
- English level proficiency certificate or document, minimum B1 — or sit SEU's English proficiency test
- Passport and school certificate translated into Georgian and notarised, in two hard copies
- Educational Recognition Document from EQE (National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement)
- Health insurance document, as required by Georgian legislation
- Official transcripts from your previous university (transfer applicants)
- NEET-UG scorecard — needed for your Indian registration file rather than by SEU's own checklist
Hostel & accommodation
SEU's published admission guidelines for international students do not cover university accommodation, and no hostel charge appears in them. Treat housing in Tbilisi as privately rented unless SEU confirms otherwise in writing.
- University accommodation: Not covered in SEU's published admission guidelines; no hostel price is stated, so do not assume a university hostel place is included
- Meals: No university mess or catering arrangement is published; do not assume an Indian mess on campus
- Health insurance: Required by Georgian legislation; SEU names PSP as a partner insurer and asks for the policy to be sent to iss@seu.edu.ge
- Paperwork help: Applicants without a representative in Georgia can have SEU handle the translation, notarisation and EQE steps under a service agreement that carries its own service fees
- What to confirm: Ask admissions@seu.edu.ge in writing what housing help exists for your intake and what it costs, and never pay a deposit for a room you have not seen
Clinical training
What SEU's own MD programme specification sets out for practical training:
- Clinical and Professional Skills (CAPS) courses are taught across all 12 semesters, so practical teaching runs from the first semester to the last.
- Those courses are held in simulation labs and in clinics, and they conclude with an OSCE examination.
- The skills developed in each CAPS course are matched to the topics covered in the corresponding semester.
- The programme is built on the Georgian legislation and the European credit system, with course prerequisites building on each other.
- Ask the Faculty of Medicine in writing which hospitals and clinics your cohort rotates through, and whether the final year includes a 12-month internship at the same institution — the point the Indian regulations turn on.
Recognition & accreditation
The National Medical Commission states that it "does not endorse any list of Foreign Medical Institutions/ Universities for MBBS or equivalent course", so no foreign medical university is "NMC approved". What decides your eligibility to register in India is the course you take. Verify the following directly with the university, in writing:
- Enrolment of international students at SEU runs through EQE, Georgia's National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (eqe.ge), and you receive an Educational Recognition Document in your own name — keep it, and check the programme's accreditation status at eqe.ge.
- Ask SEU for the accreditation decision covering the one-cycle MEDICINE programme, with its expiry date, rather than accepting a general claim of recognition.
- Check the course against the NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021 — at least 54 months of study, a 12-month internship at the same institution, and English as the medium of instruction throughout.
- Confirm the university is registered with the body competent to grant a licence to practise medicine in its own country, on the same terms as that country's own graduates.
- Look the university up yourself in the World Directory of Medical Schools (wdoms.org). A listing records that a school exists — it is not an accreditation, a recognition or an endorsement.
Career opportunities
What the degree leads to — check each route with the regulator concerned, not with an agent:
- To register in India you must meet the NMC's FMGL Regulations, 2021, clear the Indian screening examination and complete a further 12 months of supervised internship in India.
- Licensing routes in other countries (for example the USMLE in the United States or UKMLA/PLAB in the United Kingdom) each set their own eligibility conditions for graduates of foreign medical schools; verify them with the relevant regulator before you rely on them.
- Postgraduate training places in Georgia and elsewhere are competitive and are not guaranteed by the degree.
Student life
Practical notes for international students at SEU:
- The Students Affairs Department (iss@seu.edu.ge) handles payment confirmation, enrolment and student portal activation.
- SEU directs students to geoconsul.gov.ge for visa information and to Georgia's Public Service Development Agency for migration and residence questions.
- Tbilisi is a capital city with public transport, a wide range of food options and lower living costs than most European capitals.
- Because accommodation is not covered by the tuition fee or the admission guidelines, budget for private rent, utilities and insurance from your first month.
Georgian National University SEU (SEU) — frequently asked questions
What is the MD (MBBS) tuition fee at Georgian National University SEU?
SEU's own Admission Guidelines document lists the Medical Doctor (MD) programme as 6 years, 12 semesters, with an annual fee of $5,900. That document is the June 2025 update — the newest edition SEU publishes — so confirm the rate for your intake in writing with admissions@seu.edu.ge before you pay.
What does the US$5,900 a year not cover?
Accommodation and meals — SEU's admission guidelines do not cover university housing at all — plus travel, document translation and notarisation, the EQE recognition step, and health insurance, which Georgian law requires international students to hold. If SEU handles your paperwork because you have no representative in Georgia, that service carries its own fees under a separate agreement.
Does SEU award an MBBS or an MD degree?
An MD. SEU's programme specification gives the qualification as Medical Doctor, the language of instruction as English, the duration as 6 years and the volume as 360 ECTS across 12 semesters. It is Georgia's equivalent of an MBBS, and Indian students still have to meet the NMC's requirements for foreign medical graduates to practise in India.
What is the admission process at SEU?
Send your scanned documents to admissions@seu.edu.ge; SEU schedules an interview (and its own English test if you have no language document); you translate and notarise your passport and school certificate in two hard copies; SEU issues an acceptance letter; you submit it to EQE and return the Educational Recognition Document; SEU receives the ministry order in about 4–5 weeks; you pay the tuition and enrolment completes in 2–3 business days.
What documents are needed for SEU admission?
A passport copy, a school certificate (Higher Secondary, Intermediate, Senior or GCE 3 A-Level), SEU's completed application form, and an English proficiency document at minimum B1. Later you add the Georgian translations notarised in two hard copies, the EQE Educational Recognition Document and a health insurance policy. Transfer applicants send official transcripts from their previous university instead.
Is NEET required for admission at SEU Georgia?
NEET-UG is not listed on SEU's own document checklist, but it is an Indian requirement: under NMC rules an Indian student must have qualified in NEET-UG to be eligible to register and practise in India after a foreign medical degree. Treat it as mandatory if India is where you intend to practise.
Do I need IELTS or TOEFL, and is there an interview?
SEU's admission guidelines ask for an English proficiency certificate or document at minimum B1, while the MD programme specification requires B2 from entrants who come without Georgia's Unified Entry Examinations — so aim for B2 and confirm which applies to you. Every international applicant is interviewed, and applicants without a language document sit SEU's own English proficiency test after the interview.
How long is the programme and what is the yearly credit load?
Six years across 12 semesters, 360 ECTS in total, taught in English. One credit counts as 25 astronomic hours; students take about 30 credits a semester and 60 a year, with a maximum of 72 credits in a year and no more than 15 extra credits across the whole six years.
When can I join, and how long does the process take?
SEU publishes a first-semester admission round and a separate transfer round rather than fixed intake months, so ask admissions@seu.edu.ge for the dates that apply to you. Build in time for the EQE recognition step and the ministry order, which SEU says usually takes 4–5 weeks after the recognition document, plus 2–3 business days for enrolment after payment.
Does SEU provide hostel accommodation and Indian food?
SEU's published admission guidelines for international students do not cover university accommodation, and no hostel charge or mess arrangement appears in them. Plan on renting privately in Tbilisi, ask admissions@seu.edu.ge in writing what housing help exists for your intake, and do not assume an on-campus Indian mess.
